Bernhard Heneise

  • Note: Bernhard Heneise Bernhard Hoehneisen of Dover Township on the Little Conewago, born 17 Dec 1713, of Ober-Ryxingen, near Vayhingen on the Entz, in the duchy of Wurtemberg; Lutheran; came to America 1752; moved from his farm in Dover Township to York 26 Nov 1773; died 6 am 10 Mar 1778. Married on Martinmas, 1738, Anna Barbara Huber (born 6 Jan 1711 died 1 Oct 1789) of Wetterzimmer, Gross Sachsenheimer Amt, duchy of Wurtemberg, also a Lutheran. Four children were born to them in Europe: 2 children died in Wurtemberg, and an infant son while crossing the ocean. According to Quickel Family History - YCHS: Settled on a 200 acre tract in Dover twp, which lies west of the Bull road and the Canal road cuts through it to Dover. This land was in the Heneise name for over 150 years. Bernhard move to York in 1773 and died in 1778. They were members ot the Moravian Church, and were buried in the 'Old Moravian cemetery' which was on the southwest corner of Pershing and Princess streets in York. During 1908 their remains were moved to the southeastern part of Salem cemetery, west of Dover by C. Henry Quickel.1
