- Note*: John Adam King's parentage is problematic. The IGI lists his parents as Philip Jacob and Maria Catherine Zeigler however his baptism record just lists Philip Jacob and Catherina. His will lists his brother and sisters as the children of Philip Jacob b. 1740, and Philip's will lists Adam as his son, but also refers to Adam as his grandson. Not sure if the reference to "grandson", and later reference to inheriting his "grandmother's" house are editorial comments or are actually contained in the documents. Could be that Adam's will is actually Philip Jacob the younger's (b. 1764), in which case Adam may be the eldest son of the younger Philip Jacob and Catherine Ruth, which some published family trees propose. I believe that since the earlier will lists Adam as issue, and the fact that the younger Philip Jacob would only have been 19 at his birth argues for Adam to have been the son of the older Philip Jacob. in 1783.4,1
