  • Birth*: Adam Seifert was born on 13 June 1722 at Germany.2,3
  • He was the son of Johann Michael Seifert and Susanna Hessenauer.1
  • Birth: Adam Seifert was born on 23 May 1723 at Schwaigern, Heilbronn, Wurttemberg, Germany.1
  • Note*: He John Michael Seifert (should be Adam), with his wife and one child left the Black Forest (Schwartz Wald) in Germany and sailed from Bremen about 1647 (obscure) (obviously wrong - 1747?) and landed in what is now New York, and after working for the colonists a year, they came into Lancaster Co.,Pa., where they worked for a farmer the following year. And then a party of them crossed the Susquehanna River into York Co., and when they arrived at the point where York City is located, they left their wives and children with the Indians who had a small village on the site of York City, while they went out west and northwest of there to look for a place to locate some land, and after prospecting for some time the elder Seifert our ancestor, located 400 acres of land 10 miles northwest of the present site of York, and obtained title to the same, and began at once to improve the same, and built a stone house and barn with thatched roof, which buildings I can well remember, and which stood there until about 1865, when the present owner Edward Linebaugh, since deceased, pulled them down and erected brick buildings on their site. The 400 acre tract was subsequently divided into three farms, but the original homestead was handed down from father to son until my grandfather Michael Seifert finally about 1858 or 9 sold the place to Edward Linebaugh, his nephew (error should be grand-nephew), and whose widow still resides on the farm....I, my father and grandfather were all born on the old homestead. I have a letter in my possession written from St. Francisville, La., dated July 21, 1813 written by Catharine Peaut (Buatt) to John Syford her brother and also one written from Lancaster, Ohio by George Syfert to Michael Syfert his brother, in Dec 25, 1830. These were brother and sister of my grandfather Michael Seifert." This was according to a traditional family history supplied by Charles G. Seifert, St. Peter, Minn., as told to him by his father Andrew and Uncle Henry. after 1724.4
